VETERANS BENEFITS

VETERANS BENEFITS LAWYER IN WORCESTER, ME
Most U.S veterans benefits are available to those servicemen and women that have been discharged from active military service under almost all conditions - other than a dishonorable discharge.
With that in mind, active military service is generally defined as full time service for those that have been a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines of Coast Guard of the United States.

If you believe that you have a service-related disability or disease and have been denied benefits, enlist an experienced veterans benefits lawyer at our firm today.

NEW CONFLICTS, NEW DISABILITY CLAIMS FOR VETERANS
The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have greatly increased the ranks of veterans filing disability claims.

As the number of claims has increased, so have the wrongful denials and the backlog of claims requests.
The disability compensation program administered by the Veterans Benefits Administration provides monthly benefits in recognition of disabilities, diseases or injuries that occurred or were aggravated by active duty. There are a number of disability benefits available to veterans.

VA BENEFITS REQUIRING WARTIME SERVICE
According to the VA, the most prevalent service-related disabilities listed by veterans who began receiving claims during 2009 were tinnitus, hearing loss, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), cervical strain, tendon inflammation, knee problems, degenerative arthritis of the spine, diabetes, scars and traumatic arthritis.

With this in mind, the VA has begun requiring that some veterans benefits only apply to those service members that have served during wartime. Under U.S law, they now recognize the following war periods:
Mexican Border - May 9th, 1916 to April 5th, 1917 (incl. those who served throughout Mexico or on it's borders and waterways).
WWI - April 6th, 1917 to November 11th, 1918 (incl. those that continued service in Russia between April 6th, 1917 to April 1st, 1920).
WWII - December 7th, 1941 to December 31st, 1946.
Korean War - June 27th, 1950 to January 31st, 1955.
Vietnam War - August 5th, 1964 to May 7th, 1975.
Gulf War - August 2nd, 1990 to a date that is yet to be set by law.
If you are unsure if you qualify for any of the above, rest assured that our team of attorneys are aware of the details of these laws, and can help determine if you are eligible for these types of specific benefits or not.
